According to preliminary seasonally adjusted figures released today by the State Department of Labor, the number of private sector jobs in New York State increased over the month by 20,600, to 7.85 million in January. New York State’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased from 5.4% to 5.3% in January 2022.

The Oneonta Police Department announced that there have been an an increase in stolen vehicle reports. Police reported that the vehicles were unlocked, with the key left in them, they advises residents to lock their cars, take the keys with them, and do not leave valuables in plain sight in a parked vehicle.

Hospice & Palliative Care of Chenango County is continuing to sell tickets for their “Show Your Love Quilt Raffle”, hospice spokesperson Sarah Greene told WCDO News about the 2 quilts:

Tickets for the quilt raffle can be purchased by calling hospice at 334-3556, by email to events@hospicechenango.org or by stopping into their office on Court Street in Norwich during normal business hours. The Tickets will be available until April 29th, the winners will be picked May 2nd.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that all New Yorkers enrolled in SNAP will receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits for March. All households participating in SNAP; Including those already at the maximum level of benefits, will receive a supplemental allotment this month. More information on the emergency supplemental SNAP benefits, can be found at otda.ny.gov/programs, questions about eligibility or to apply online, go to mybenefits.ny.gov.

Nyseg reports that just over 100 customers were without power this afternoon in Broome, Chenango, Delaware & Otsego Counties from Monday night’s storm, crews are working to get all customers back on line as soon as possible.
