The Delaware County Board of Supervisors & New York City have to come to an agreement to stop New York City from buying up more land in the watershed region, Shelly Johnson Bennett of the Delaware County Planning Department told WCDO News how the agreement works for both sides:

Johnson Bennett said this was an important step after the 1997 Watershed Agreement, where the City wound up buying for more land that was originally agreed upon, & it gives Delaware County more options for growth than they have had in decades.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced Today, the creation of the SUNY Top 10% Promise Program, which will allow students in the top 10% of their class, who meet other applicable criteria, to be automatically accepted to select SUNY schools. Students would be able to sign a consent form allowing their school to share their academic info with SUNY, with no application, essay, or fees. The inaugural 2025 roll-out includes 9 SUNY schools, including SUNY Oneonta.

Next Tuesday, from 6pm – 7:30pm, Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar will be hosting a Public Safety Town Hall for residents of Windsor and the surrounding communities. The Public Safety Town Hall will take place at the Village of Windsor Community House, located at 107 Main St. in Windsor. Community members are invited to attend and hear the latest public safety updates, ask questions and discuss how to help make Windsor and the surrounding communities safer for residents and motorists.

Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 3 people following the execution of a search warrant in the Town of Laurens. 31 year old Ronald Neu of Laurens was charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition Feeding Devices. 21 year old Christopher Beech, was arrested on an outstanding warrant , as was 23 year old Alyssa Jones, & 20 year old Rafail Tsiraouglou. Deputies & Oneonta Police executed a search warrant, all individuals were detained for further investigation, Beech and Jones were turned over to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police respectively, Tsiraouglou was turned over to Immigration Officials. Weapons & narcotics were seized, Neu was lodged in the Otsego County Correctional Facility for arraignment.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force executed a search warrant in Endicott, they arrested 25 year old Jahmeek Bey Jones, for 7 felonies relating to possessing narcotics, items used to sell drugs & weapons, police seized Methamphetamines, Cocaine, scales, packaging materials & A loaded semi-automatic handgun with a high-capacity magazine, that reported stolen in Pennsylvania. Bey Jones was transported Central Arraignment Part Court and remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.

The Chenango County Health Department announced that a skunk found along Pleasant Street in the City of Norwich was tested by the State Wadsworth Laboratory, it was found to have rabies. The Health Department reminds area residents to make sure all your dogs, cats, ferrets, and livestock are vaccinated against rabies. The Sidney American Legion announced that they will hold a fundraiser to help the victims of recent flooding in North Carolina. The event will be this Saturday from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at the Legion on Union Street, there will be dinner & music.
