Governor Cuomo delivered his 4th & final State of the State Address this morning in Albany, where he outlined Infrastructure projects all over the state, to put people back to work after the pandemic tanked the economy. The Governor mentioned some of the upstate projects:

Next, the Governor will unveil his Executive State Budget Proposal, which is due April 1st.

The Village of Sidney Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative Committee held a public meeting on ZOOM last night, they have sent out surveys for the community to answer regarding the Police Department, Sidney Village Mayor Andy Matviak comments:

The survey can also be found at the Village of Sidney .org website, their Facebook page & they should be returned by January 31st. The next Committee Public ZOOM meeting will be Wednesday January 20th at 6:00 PM. The Village needs to pass a plan & submit it to the state by April 1st.

The State Health Department announced that there were 202 COVID 19 deaths on Wednesday and bringing the state death toll to 32,379 since last spring. Over 212,000 were tested for the virus Wednesday, with over 13,600 positive tests, or 6.4%. Hospitalizations went down slightly to 8823; the number of ICU Patients increased to 1536, & the number on Ventilators is up over 950.

Chenango County Public Health reported 23 new COVID cases today, the number of active cases declined to 200, quarantines were also down to 491, there was 1 additional hospitalization; bring that number up to 21.

Chobani announced that they are launching a new line of refrigerated, ready-to-drink coffees, in 4 flavors. The drinks will come in 32-ounce packages, Officials at their Chenango County Headquarters said that the new line builds on Chobani’s previous investments; a year ago the company started making oat milk and creamers.

The State Health Department is pushing for the federal government to get more vaccines into New York State as Quickly as Possible. About 7 million New Yorkers are eligible for the COVID 19 Vaccine in phases 1A & 1B, however the state is currently receiving only 300,000 vaccines a week.

Bassett Healthcare Network announced this week that they will continue their limited visitation policy through February 15th. Officials announced that all regional clinics and long-term care facilities, including Fox Nursing Home, will remain closed to visitors. The full list of guidelines is available at bassett.org.

Governor Cuomo reported that 15 additional cases of UK Variant of COVID 19 have been identified across the state. The State has 8,929 Hospitalized, 1,501 Patients are in an ICU; 924 are intubated. There were 196,868 tests, with 14,577 positives for COVID, which was 7.40% of all tested, 165 COVID-19 Deaths in New York State were reported Tuesday.

Otsego County Department of Health has a new COVID vaccine information line at 547-4240. The County Health Department does not have the vaccine available & cannot take appointments over the phone. The new phone line will be utilized to provide callers with updated information about vaccine availability. The County reported 25 new COVID cases Wednesday; they have 195 active cases, 15 hospitalizations & 1 new death to report.

Delaware County Public Health reported 14 new cases of COVID Wednesday, they have 165 active cases, 9 hospitalized & 310 are quarantined.

Property tax levy growth for school districts will be capped at 1.23% according to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. The cap affects the calculations for 676 school districts and 10 cities with fiscal years starting July 1st. The tax cap limits annual tax levy increases to the lesser of the rate of inflation or 2 percent with certain exceptions, including a provision that allows school districts to override the cap with 60% voter approval of their budget.
