Plans are going forward regarding the Norwich Downtown Boutique Hotel project on South Broad Street, Commerce Chenango President & CEO Kerri Green visited WCDO Today & gave an update regarding the timeline:

Green also said that a 6th meeting of the Norwich DRI Local Planning Committee will be held on Tuesday, at 3:00 PM in the Community Room of Commerce Chenango at 15 South Broad Street in Norwich, to continue the Committee’s discussion and review of potential projects for inclusion in Norwich’s Strategic Investment Plan. This meeting is open to all members of the public, with time reserved at the end of the meeting for public comment. The meeting will also be available on ZOOM.

The Raymond Corporation is celebrating their 100th Anniversary this month, President & CEO Michael Field told WCDO News about the origins of the company:

Field Said that they will have a celebration next Tuesday which will feature the unveiling of their 100th Anniversary Exhibit, which will tour the County, Country & even into Mexico in the coming year. The Oneonta Fire Department responded to a truck fire on Grand Street Wednesday Afternoon. The engine was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived, the driver escaped without injury, there were no injuries among firefighters reported.

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection announced today that they are not in a position to shutdown the Delaware Aqueduct this fall as originally planned. The schedule is now planned for October 1, 2023 through May 31, 2024, the new timeline will ensure that the DEP completes and tests new system configurations and that outside communities are also prepared for the shutdown.

A.M. NEWS THURSDAY 6-9-22

The Oneonta Police Department is seeking public help in the murder on May 30th of 24 year old Kaleb O’Neill of Oneonta. O’Neill was found with stab wounds in the alley near 6 Dietz Street, he was declared dead after being transported to A.O. Fox Hospital. Anyone with additional information on the investigation is asked to contact the Oneonta Police Department Detective Division at 607-432-1111.

The Otsego County Department of Health will host a Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic tonight in Unadilla. The clinic will be held in Clifton Park from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, more information is available at 547-4230.

The Village of Sidney announced that the Water service was restored to residents & businesses downtown last night. Superintendent of Public Works Brandon McEwan told WCDO that the Main Street Bridge will remain closed until further notice, as they continue to assess the need for repairs.
