The Broome County Sheriff’s Office released the identity of the victim of the fatal motorcycle accident that took place in the Town of Maine last Thursday night. The Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol responded to a report single-motorcycle crash on East Maine Road, patrols located the operator lying a significant distance from the motorcycle and immediately began providing life-saving measures. 37 year old Jared Warner of Nineveh, was declared deceased at the scene, investigators determined that the Warner was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control of the motorcycle, leading to the accident.

45 year old Rondell Wright of Binghamton was sentenced today to 6 years in State Prison followed by 5 years post-release supervision after being found guilty of Criminal Possession of a Weapon by a Broome County Jury in May in Broome County Court. On April 27, 2023, Wright was discovered to have a loaded and operable .380 caliber handgun in the City of Binghamton, the Broome County Special Investigations Unit assisted by the Binghamton Police Community Response Team discovered the handgun on Wright after a traffic stop of a vehicle with stolen license plates.

This Thursday, The Village of Bainbridge will have a short dedication and unveiling of the 1st Village Historic marker, commemorating the establishment of the Village of Bainbridge, Village Mayor Phil Wade Comments:

A Broome County Jury found 50 year old Damian High of Endicott, guilty of multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, and 1 count of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, he faces up to 24 years in State Prison followed by 6 years of post-release supervision. On April 7, 2023, members of the Broome County Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant in Endicott, where High possessed cocaine and a digital scale, in February, Endicott Police found High sleeping under a bridge, he was detained him under a Mental Hygiene Law, Police uncovered 19 baggies of cocaine. High is scheduled to be sentenced in Broome County Court on December 16.

On September 20, 2024, the Troop “C” Traffic Incident Management unit conducted an Operation Had Hat enforcement on Interstate 81 in the town of Kirkwood. During the detail, a Trooper is dressed as a construction worker and embeds himself in an active work zone. The Trooper observes violations and calls ahead to Troopers waiting just outside the work zone. In just over four hours, 44 tickets were issued 13 for Speeding, 13 for using a cellphone, One person was observed and ticketed for traveling 82 mph in the 55 mph active work zone.

Upstate Companies will be installing drainage structures and piping on both the north and south sides of Market Street in Oneonta this week, from Main Street to Chestnut Street. Vehicular traffic is encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid the construction. Pedestrians are encouraged to avoid sidewalks under construction, All businesses will remain open. Pedestrian and vehicular access to the businesses will be maintained at all times.
