The Utica City School District today released the name of the security officer who was shot after a football game at Proctor High School. District Officials said that Jeff Lynch was shot Saturday, he was taken to an area hospital, he is recovering & is expected to be released shortly according to the Utica Police Department. An unidentified 16 year old male was charged with 2nd degree attempted Murder, Criminal possession of a weapon, among other similar charges.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 45 year old Jolene Hynes of Stamford, following a domestic incident investigation. On July 1st, Deputies responded to a 911 call for a Domestic Dispute in the Town of Harpersfield, Hynes was arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, she also attempted to conceal and destroy evidence by throwing away narcotics and drug paraphernalia. After Deputies received the results from the State Crime Lab, Hynes was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Evidence Tampering, she was Hynes was released on Appearance Tickets for Town of Harpersfield Court at a later date.

After a summer of decreased donor turnout, the American Red Cross is experiencing a national blood shortage, which has lead to an increase in Blood Drives locally into the fall, American Red Cross Spokesperson Meg Rossman comments:

Blood Drives are being held tomorrow at SUNY Delhi’s Farrell Hall from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM, in Cooperstown at the Community Bible Church from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and in Oneonta at the Foothills Performing Arts Center from 1:00 to 6:00 PM, Appointments can be scheduled with the Red Cross Blood Donor App, at Redcrossblood.org or by calling 1-800-Red Cross.

State Police arrested 63 year old Thomas Brick of Fenton, for 3 counts of 3rd degree Grand Larceny. An investigation began in early July after Troopers learned that Brick accepted money from a victim in April for 3 separate contracting jobs for over $24,000, but Brick did not complete the contracting work at 1 location and didn’t start work or purchase materials for the other 2 properties. Brick was processed & was transported to the Chenango County Jail for arraignment.

Delaware County Sheriff’s office arrested 61 year old Ila Husarenko of Walton for DWI following a Motor Vehicle Accident Friday. Deputies responded to a 1 car motor vehicle accident with injuries on County Highway 21, Town of Walton. Deputies observed that a vehicle had left the roadway and entered into a ditch alongside the roadway. Husarenko was arrested for DWI & on a number of lesser charges & was transported to Delaware County Correctional Facility for arraignment.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force executed search warrant in the Village of Endicott on Thursday, they arrested Eric Dudley of Endicott for 2 Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, several counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property & 2 Counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia. Investigators seized Crack Cocaine, a Loaded stolen Handgun, A Loaded Shotgun, Ammunition, A High-capacity Magazine, plus a Scale, and packaging materials used for weighing, and packaging narcotics for sale & $657 in cash. Dudley was taken to Central Arraignment at the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility.

The Village of Sidney Board is looking to fill a seat on the board recently vacated by the passing of trustee Jeremy Matviak, Sidney Village Mayor Ray Baker explains:

Matviak won a seat on the board as a write in candidate in March, he passed away following a lengthy battle with cancer on August 17th.

State Police at Richfield Springs were dispatched to assist the Richfield Fire Department with a fire in a 2nd-floor bathroom at Richfield Springs Central School. An investigation revealed that a 15-year-old male intentionally lit a soap dispenser on fire, which caused property damage only. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was charged with 2nd degree Arson.

Flags on state government buildings will be flown at half-staff today, September 11 in remembrance of those who lost their lives on this day 22 years ago. The Governor also announced that 15 state landmarks and bridges will be illuminated blue in recognition of the 22nd anniversary.
