On Saturday Oneonta Police responded to Fox Hospital Emergency Department for a reported stabbing victim. Police arrested 25-year-old Avi Figueroa of Oneonta, 37-year-old Nancy Callahan of Oneonta and 16-year-old Future Clovis if Richfield Springs, for 2nd degree Assault & 5th degree Conspiracy, Clovis was also charged with Menacing & Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Police stated that the victim had been walking on Chestnut Street in Oneonta near Fonda Avenue, when a confrontation ensued; the victim suffered a stab wound to the upper buttocks that required medical treatment. All 3 suspects were held for arraignment in the City of Oneonta Court.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office 32 year old arrested Fitim Latifi of Norwich Friday, for an active arrest warrant issued by the Chenango County Court. The warrant followed a sealed indictment presented to the Grand Jury Friday involving the sale of heroin in the Norwich area. Latifi was located at his residence, he had been indicted on 4 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, for allegedly selling heroin in the Norwich area on 4 occasions, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $25,000 cash bail.

On Saturday, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged 44-year-old Edward Kaneg of Delhi, New York, with Grand Larceny, Burglary, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Ignition Interlock Device, & several other charges, following a month long investigation of a burglary involving the theft of a vehicle from a garage in the Town of Delhi. Kaneg was already serving a sentence in the Delaware County Correctional Facility on an unrelated charge; he is scheduled to appear at Delhi Town Court today to answer the charges.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 51-year-old Tracy Wood of Walton for harassment & unlawful imprisonment, following an investigation into a Domestic Dispute on Loomis Brook Road in the Town of Walton. Wood was later arraigned in Walton Town Court and was released on his own recognizance, pending future court action.

2 bridges on Interstate 81 near the Castle Creek exit in the Town of Chenango were formally dedicated today to State Trooper Christopher Skinner. Skinner was conducting a routine traffic stop on I-81 when a car swerved from the left lane & hit Trooper Skinner in May of 2014. Almond Upton of Florida will stand trial in November in Broome County court; he is facing an 11-count indictment that includes a first-degree murder charge.

Cobleskill Stone Products announced that State Route 205 is undergoing milling and paving from Brown Street to State Route 23 in Oneonta, today through September 10th. From September 14th through September 23rd, construction will continue from Silas Lane to Oneida Street. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes during the project period.

State Police at Endwell arrested 3 suspects for Burglary following a 911 call of a burglary in progress to an unoccupied residence in the Town of Union. Troopers located 2 suspects in the residence & a 3rd suspect was taken into custody on an adjacent street with proceeds of the burglary. Charged were 54 year old Otis Bivins of Endicott, 32 year old Roger Edwards Jr. of Endicott & 30 year old Russell Harris of Binghamton, all 3 were arraigned and remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail. The Broome County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the apprehension of the defendants.

About a dozen groups rallied at General Clinton Park Sunday, to discuss how to get several southern tier towns to secede New York State & join Pennsylvania, or to split New York State into 2 states. Groups involved were pro gas drilling groups upset with the Governor’s ban on Hydrofracking, and are Tea Party groups.
