Governor Cuomo today announced the New York State Public Service Commission’s approval of New York’s Clean Energy Standard, To fight climate change, reduce harmful air pollution, and ensure a diverse and reliable energy supply. The Clean Energy Standard will require 50% of New York’s electricity to come from renewable energy sources like wind and solar by 2030, with an aggressive phase in schedule over the next several years. The Clean Energy Standard will Significantly reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions and prevent backsliding on progress made to date by maintaining the operations of carbon-free nuclear power plants as the state transitions to a 50 percent renewable requirement; and,

Governor Cuomo today directed the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision to restrict sex offenders under community supervision from using Pokémon GO and similar games. In an effort to safeguard New York’s children, the Governor also sent a letter to software developer Niantic, Inc. requesting their assistance in prohibiting sexual predators from playing Pokémon GO. At the Governor’s direction, DOCCS has imposed a new condition of parole for sex offenders under community supervision that will prohibit them from downloading, accessing, or otherwise engaging in any Internet enabled gaming activities, including Pokémon GO.

The City Of Oneonta announced that Minor Painting work in the middle level & the down ramp of the Municipal Parking Garage will begin Tuesday. The top Level, & the south bay of the middle level will be closed to traffic & parking, the up ramp tot eh top level will be closed at the Chestnut Street Extension, parking will be allowed in 2/3rds of the middle level & all of the bottom level. The work is expected to take about 4 days to complete.

State Police arrested 53 year old Dana Ramey of Windsor for animal cruelty and the harassment, after troopers were made aware of crime outside a home on John White Road in the Town of Windsor. An investigation determined that Ramey had grabbed another person’s dog by the collar and punched him several times. When confronted by a witness he then grabbed that person by the neck and threatened him. Ramey was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Windsor court on August 9, 2016.

State Police arrested 21 year old Andrew Benjamin of Binghamton, for petty larceny, resisting arrest and criminal mischief, after a trooper responded to a shoplifting complaint at a gas station in the Town of Chenango. Benjamin was located walking down the street, he was arrested, & while being placed back inside the troop car, Benjamin became irate and began to physically resist as he struck the outside of the door several times with his head, causing damage to the patrol car.. Benjamin was arraigned in the Town of Chenango court and was remanded to the Broome County jail in lieu of $750 cash bail. His next court date is pending.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of 3 Margaretville people on Sealed Grand Jury Indictment Warrants. Deputies and Investigators arrested 39 year old Christopher Fairbairn for allegedly selling heroin in the Town of Middletown. 69 year old Salvatore Esposito was arrested for allegedly selling Oxycodone & Fentanyl transdermal patches from his residence. 62 year old Karen Certain was charged for allegedly selling hydrocodone in Margaretville. While acting on the Warrant, Investigators discovered marihuana being grown outside Certain’s residence, they arrested 61 year old Robert Cline for Unlicensed Cultivation of Cannabis. All face court action shortly.
