31-year-old Dennis Gellat of Earlville has been arrested in connection with the robbery at the NBT Bank in Edmeston on May 23rd. The Otsego County Sheriff’s Department reported that Gelatt was arrested Sunday night and charged with 2nd-degree robbery after deputies from Otsego and Madison counties executed a search warrant at his residence. Gelatt was arraigned in the Edmeston Town Court and he was sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on $25,000 bail.

On Friday morning, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of 3 suspicious men on the DCMO BOCES Harold Campus in Masonville. Deputies located 3 adult males in a vehicle parked area near the auto mechanic shops, the driver was 21 year old George Robinson, Jr., of Delhi was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. A passenger, 29-year-old Jonathan Gutliph of Hamden, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, for allegedly possessing prescription medications. An unidentified 18-year-old Delhi male was also ticketed for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle; all 3 were processed and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Masonville Court at a later date. State Police and Village of Walton Police assisted with the investigation.

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer announced new legislation he will introduce in the Senate that would require landline and mobile carriers to offer free robocall-blocking technology to all consumers. The Act would also direct the FCC to require telephone companies to label and block calls with fraudulent caller ID, it also subjects callers to penalties, fines, or state actions to those who intentionally cause call-blocking technology to incorrectly identify callers originating from an automatic dialing system or using an artificial or prerecorded voice.

Delaware County Deputies arrested 57-year-old John O’Connor of Meredith last Wednesday for Reckless Endangerment, for allegedly passing 2 school buses on the morning of June 1st in the Town of Franklin. Deputies reported that as O’Connor passed the 2nd school bus children were about to walk across the street. O’Connor was issued traffic summons & an appearance ticket for Town of Franklin Court on June 23rd.

On Friday Delaware County Sheriff Tom Mills announced the arrest of a recently paroled Village of Walton career drug dealer on new drug trafficking charges. the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division arrested 33 year old Gerard Johnson, of Walton on a Sealed Indictment Warrant, Johnson was charged with 2 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, for heroin sales in Walton, Johnson was arraigned on the new charges in Delaware County Court on Friday and was ordered held on $50,000 cash or $100,000 bail bond pending further court proceedings.

The Greater Chenango Cares IRT event will again be occurring in Norwich this summer. The 10 day initiative that will offer no cost medical, dental, optometry and veterinary care for children and adults in our region. The event is being led this year by the Chenango United Way and its volunteers and is occurring because of a partnership between many local health and human service organizations, local government agencies and the Department of Defense.
