Chaquasja Veale of Norwich pleaded guilty today to 2nd degree Murder in Chenango County Court for the death of 44 year old Alisa Martin of Norwich. Veale was arrested last December, Martin was found deceased in her home at 89 North Broad Street last July.

State Police “Speed Week” enforcement crackdown starts today and runs through Sunday, June 9th. State Police will deploy additional patrols, as Speeding is listed as a contributing factor in nearly one third of all fatal crashes in New York State. Troopers will be using both marked State Police vehicles and Concealed Identity Traffic Enforcement (CITE) vehicles as part of the operation. Last Year, State Troopers issued 20,952 total traffic tickets, including 10,478 for speeding, 516 for distracted driving, 375 for violations of the Move Over law, and arrested 172 people for drunk and impaired driving.

Delaware County Board of Elections reminds County voters that the Primary Elections will be held on June 25th. There will be Democratic Party Primaries in Roxbury for the Town Council, in the 102nd Assembly District, There will be no Republican primary elections in Delaware County on June 25th The last day to register for the primary is June 15th, the last day for the Board of Elections to receive early mail/absentee ballot applications online or by mail is June 15th. Early Voting, Saturday, June 15th through Sunday, June 23rd will be held at the Board of Elections Office 97 Main St, Suite 5, Delhi 607-832-5321

Binghamton Police are investigating a shooting outside “The Cave” Nightclub at 53 Chenango Street, early Sunday Morning. The unidentified 28 year old male was shot in the chest & was taken to an area hospital.

34 year old Dupray Jordan of Binghamton was sentenced in US District Court Thursday to 97 months in federal prison for possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. Jordan admitted that he possessed methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as a loaded .38 caliber revolver in a Binghamton apartment on November 12, 2021. Jordan was already a convicted felon, having previously been convicted in New York state court for 2nd degree Assault, he was also sentenced to serve a post-incarceration term of supervised release of 3 years following his release from federal prison.

59 year old Michael Frascatore of Treadwell was sentenced in Federal Court last week to 18 months’ imprisonment after previously pleading guilty to failing to register and update his registration as a sex offender, and to violating the terms of his supervised release for a prior sex offense conviction. Frascatore admitted that he was a Level I sex offender in New York , he created an email address & had an unauthorized, internet-capable phone; and he communicating with minors online, including by sending explicit photos of himself to minors. Frascatore’s sentence includes 8 months’ imprisonment on the new criminal charge followed by a consecutive term of 10 months’ imprisonment on the supervised release violation. Frascatore will also serve 10 years on supervised release as part of his sentence.

State Department of Agriculture is issuing a consumer alert after elevated levels of lead were found in ground ginger and cinnamon powder manufactured by Badia Spices. The spices were sold at multiple retailers in New York state. Anyone who may have purchased these spices is advised not to consume them and to discard them immediately.
