Governor Cuomo announced that COVID restrictions will be lessened throughout the state later this month, as vaccinations continue & the positivity rates & hospitalization rates go down:

Hospitalization went down again on Sunday to 2539, the number in ICU beds went down by 25 to 613, Patients on Ventilators decreased to 379, there were 37 deaths attributed to COVID Sunday.

A Delaware County Grand Jury has indicted an Otsego County inmate on felony drug and contraband charges following the conclusion of an investigation by The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. Delaware County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested 39-year-old Jessica Palmatier of Afton on a Sealed Indictment Warrant issued Thursday; The Grand Jury has accused Palmatier of 2 counts each of criminal possession of a controlled substance and promoting prison contraband. Palmatier is accused of possessing more than 25 grams of Methamphetamine and more than 5 grams of Fentanyl within the Delaware County Correctional Facility on December 2, 2020. Palmatier was arraigned in the Delaware County Court & was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility pending a future court appearance.

Norwich City officials announced that State Highway 12 between Oxford and Norwich is closed due to a NYSEG Natural Gas Leak and power line across the roadway. Officials ask motorists to use County Road 32 as an alternate, as Route 12 is expected to be closed for most of the day.

Chenango County Public Health reported 42 new COVID cases since Friday’s report, with 3298 total cases since the pandemic started. Chenango County reports a decrease in Active Cases to 100; they still have 460 quarantined & 4 Active Hospitalizations.

Delaware County Public Health will be conducting a 1st dose Moderna COVID-19 vaccination clinic this Thursday at 97 Main Street in Delhi from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Registration is mandatory at apps2.health.ny.gov. The statewide COVID-19 positivity rate dropped to 1.49% Saturday, dropping below 1.5% for the 1st time since October 28 of last year. The state tested 191,257, with Total Positive of 2,849, Patient Hospitalization dropped to 2,535, the number in an ICU bed dropped to 637, the number of ventilators dropped to 406 there were 33 COVID related deaths Saturday.

Delaware County Public Health reported 9 new Positive COVID cases Friday out of 478 tested. They are down to 7 hospitalizations, 69 active cases & 131 quarantined.

The Village Of Sidney Spring Cleanup begins today through Friday May 14th. The village will pick up Brush, leaves, grass clippings, weed-stalks & Hedge trimmings at the curb starting this morning at 7:00 AM. Sidney Village residents can drop off certain items at the Village Garage on Sherman this Friday or Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, accepted items include Computer monitors, TV’s, Copiers, Fax Machines, Cell Phones, Radios, Microwaves, Gaming Devices, Metal & non-Freon appliances.
