Sidney Police responded Friday to Cartwright Avenue for a report of a man causing a disturbance. Officer arrested 25 year old Peter Tarallo of Sidney after he was found screaming at neighbors in a threatening manner. Tarallo was taken into custody and charged with Disorderly Conduct & Harassment, he was released on an appearance ticket. Sidney Police returned Friday back to Cartwright Avenue, where Tarallo allegedly created another disturbance, he was additionally charged with 2 counts of Harassment, plus Endangering the welfare of a child & Obstruction governmental administration. Tarallo was arraigned in Village of Sidney Court where he was released on his own recognizance to appear back in court at a later date.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting in the Town of Sherburne on Sunday. 1 person was killed Sunday in the shooting, the name of the victim has not yet been released, more information is expected to be released shortly.

Hundreds participated in the return of the Southern Tier Heart Walk to an in-person event at Otsiningo Park in Binghamton Sunday. Participants raised more than $250,000, more information can be found at SouthernTierHeartWalk.org.

A Kirkwood Man with dementia, who was reported missing Saturday, was found dead. 72 year old Fred Moat was snowmobiling in the SNIRT run in Lewis County, he was reported missing, which led to extensive search by Forest Rangers, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office & local Fire Departments, Moat’s vehicle was found stuck in a driveway in Montague New York Sunday afternoon, he was found deceased in a nearby location.

Governor Kathy Hochul signed a 220 Billion Dollar State Budget plan Saturday, 21 week after the April 1st Deadline. Assemblyman Joe Angelino of Norwich commented on the overspending in the budget:

Angelino added that he voted for just 1 section of the budget that removed the state Gas tax, which he feels benefits all New Yorkers:

The budget suspends 16 cents in taxes off of a gallon of gas through December, also school aid was a record 31.5 billion dollars, & the budget includes a 32.5 Billion dollar five year infrastructure plan.

Binghamton Police arrested 2 19 year olds last week after complaints of suspicious activity on Gerard Avenue. Police stopped a White SUV leaving that area, they found parts to make illegal Ghost Guns. 19 year old Jayvon Phillips & 19 year old Savion Harris, both of Binghamton were charged with criminal possession of a weapon, Phillips was additionally charged with assault & criminal misconduct after trying to escape, and assaulting a police Lieutenant.

On January 2, State Police responded to a home on Poplar Avenue in the town of Hartwick, it was reported by the initial caller that an elderly victim had sustained physical injuries after an unknown person entered her home. Investigators spent months conducting interviews and examining evidence, ultimately leading to the determination that the woman’s physical injuries were caused when she fell inside her home. No criminal activity occurred, the woman passed away several weeks after her fall. She is identified as 86-year-old Flora Polulech. State Police report that there is no threat to the community.

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced the completion of an audit of the Town Clerk from the Town of Coventry. The audit claims that the clerk did not record, deposit, remit or report all collections in a timely manner. As a result, the town’s collections were at a greater risk of being lost or misappropriated. Penalties were not paid & one taxpayer paid double the amount owed, & the board did not conduct the required annual audit of the clerk’s records.

The American Red Cross is experiencing a blood shortage due to the cancellation of blood drives and has issued an emergency request for all blood types. A Blood Drive is scheduled for Friday, April 22, at the A.O. Fox Tri-Town Campus Lab in Sidney between 1:30 PM and 6:30PM in the Tri-Town Campus Conference Room N-112 .
