Binghamton Police announced that they are looking for 22 year old Orlando Tercero of Nicaragua regarding the death of 22-year-old Haley Anderson, a nursing student at Binghamton University. Tercero and Anderson were previously in a relationship, Anderson was found dead in her Oak Street apartment Friday, while Tercero left the United States for Nicaragua. For the 2nd year in a row, Melodie Loya, a home schooled student from Sidney, will be going to the Scripps National Spelling bee in late May & early June, after winning the local DCMO BOCES Daily Star spelling bee this past weekend. Martha Ryan of DCMO Boces said that they are putting together a fundraiser so that Melodie can go to Washington & Compete again:

State Police are alerting area residents of another scam that appears by text on your phone, that appears to be coming from a bank, & urging the recipient of the text to call a number back immediately. Police remind area residents that you should never give any banking information by email, text or by phone, they advise you to contact your bank directly if there is an issue that needs to be addressed.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies invite fans to their annual Meet the Rumble Ponies Dinner on Tuesday, April 3rd at the Holiday Inn in Downtown Binghamton. Tickets are on sale, at the Starting Gate Box Office at NYSEG Stadium. On the night of the dinner, Rumble Ponies players will arrive at 5:30 PM for the “Meet the Rumble Ponies” autograph reception. Dinner will be served at 7:00 PM followed by a special event including an interview with returning Rumble Ponies manager Luis Rojas and introductions of the new coaching staff and players. The Rumble Ponies kick off the 2018 season at home on Thursday, April 5 against the Portland Sea Dogs at 6:35 PM.

State Police arrested 30 year old Ethan David of Norwich for Criminal Mischief, following a report of a fight in a residence on White Store Road in the town of Norwich. David is accused of causing damage by punching a wall, leaving several holes. David was arraigned & was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.

State Police arrested 16 year old Emmanuel Coy of Whitney Point, for felony Making a Terroristic Threat, following the investigation of the previous threat against the Whitney Point High School that resulted in the arrest of another teenager on February 15th. Coy was arraigned and was remanded to Broome County Jail on $2,500 cash bail. The investigation revealed no threat to the school or the public.

Following an investigation into a threat toward the Otselic Valley School District on March 9th, a 17 year old Plymouth youth was arrested for Making a Terroristic Threat & was arraigned in Chenango County Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on no bail. The youth will reappear in Court at a later date.

NYSEG has restored power to nearly all of the more than 203,000 customers that were impacted by the 2 winter storms that hit the region over the past week. The storms had heavy, wet snow and high winds that caused severe damage to electrical infrastructure through the Northeast. NYSEG crews, tackled more than 3,000 downed wires and hundreds of broken poles in the hardest hit areas of The Catskills.
