Sidney Village Police responded Sunday night at about 11:00 PM to the report of a vehicle stuck on the railroad tracks at the Main Street crossing. Police stated that 27 year old Joshua Barnhart of Bainbridge attempted to turn into the parking area of Trackside Dining, got stuck on the tracks & vacated the vehicle, which was hit by a train a short time later. No one was injured, Barnhart was charged with obstructing a railroad crossing, driving on the shoulder of a controlled access road & failing to report an address change to the Department of Motor Vehicles. The investigation is also continuing by Railroad Police, and more charges may be forthcoming.

The State Health Department tested over 174,000 people for COVID 19 state wide Sunday, with 6235 Positive tests, for a 3.58% positivity rate. Patient Hospitalization was at 5,307, the Number of ICU patients was down to 1,065, the number of ventilators was at 741. There were 80 deaths from the virus, the total amount of deaths in exactly 1 year since the first COVID positive was found in the state, is up to 38,557

Chenango County Public Health reported 37 new COVID 19 cases since Friday, with 2434 total cases, they report that Active Cases are up slightly to 70, they have 238 quarantined, 8 hospitalized and the total number of Deaths is 53.

The Village of Bainbridge reported a Water Main Break near Greenlawn Avenue today. The water main break has been repaired, residents on Greenlawn, Bixby & Kirby Streets are reminded that water may be discolored or there may be air in the lines, they advise that you let the water run for a short period of time to alleviate the problem.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a vehicle with an expired inspection certificate last Wednesday. 45 year-old James Amato of Downsville is accused of driving with a suspended commercial driver’s license he was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle along with several other similar charges, he was transported to the Hancock Police Department to wait for his girlfriend. 47 year-old Tarra Barnhart of Walton arrived & was also driving with a suspended driver’s license, she was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both were released and directed to appear in the Town of Hancock Court on a later date.

The New York State Division of Consumer Protection announced it assisted 31,689 New Yorkers with a variety of consumer protection matters related to COVID-19 in 2020, resulting in a record $2,831,400 being returned to consumer’s wallets. Delaware County Public Health reported 11 new Positive COVID cases Saturday out of 401 tested and 11 new cases Sunday out of 203 tested. The number of active cases was down to 98, there were 10 hospitalized, & 270 quarantined.

Another former aid to Governor Cuomo claims that the Governor Sexually harassed her. 25 Year old Charlotte Bennett worked as a health policy adviser during the COVID pandemic, The Governor said that he made no such advances to Bennett; she received the transfer she requested. Attorney General Letitia James released a statement saying that her office expects to receive a referral with subpoena power to investigate allegations of sexual harassment against the governor, the referral would be made solely to the attorney general’s office, and they will hire a law firm, deputize them as attorneys of our office, and oversee a rigorous and independent investigation.

The State Health Department reported over 273,000 COVID tests were conducted Saturday, with 7580 positives, Hospitalizations are down to 5259, there were 90 fatalities Saturday from the virus.

The Sidney Central School District was just notified that one 3rd grade, two 6th grade, 9th grade and one staff member have tested positive for COVID-19. The Delaware County Health Department has conducted an investigation and the contact tracing has been completed. There will be no change to the instructional model at this time.

Max the Pit Bull Mix has been staying at the Susquehanna Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for 444 days as of this coming Wednesday, and so to raise awareness, and get Max into a forever home, Society Executive Director Stacie Haynes will trade places with Max all day Wednesday, she told WCDO news about this effort:
