Oneida County Court Judge Robert Bauer unsealed an indictment returned by an Oneida County Grand Jury, which heard evidence in the investigation into the December 9th 2024, homicide of Marcy Correctional Facility inmate Robert Brooks. 33 year old Nicholas Kieffer of Whitesboro was charged with 2nd degree Murder, 1st degree Manslaughter plus Gang Assault & Offering a False Instrument for Filing. State Police were first notified of Brooks’ death on December 10th, State Police investigated over 400 separate leads, analyzed hundreds of pieces of evidence, and the execution of 16 search warrants, the case remains an active and ongoing prosecution.

The State Department of Health announces the 25th Anniversary of its Tobacco Control Program. In recent years, the State has enacted several policies, including raising the minimum age for purchasing tobacco products, prohibiting the sale of flavored e-cigarettes or nicotine vapor products, including menthol-flavored products, and prohibiting tobacco product price discounting. A Chenango County Grand Jury indicted William Ramirez for 1st Degree Sexual Abuse, Aggravated Sexual Abuse & Forcible Touching, Ramirez is accused of forcibly touching and sexually assaulted victims at the Sherburne Earlville School Swimming pool in October of last year.

Delaware County Grand Jury returned an 8-count indictment against 69 year old Sidney Wallace of Roxbury last week, for sexual conduct and abuse of multiple minors in 2023 and 2024, the Minors were all less than 13 years of age. Wallace will face additional court action at a later date.

A Chenango County Grand Jury Indicted Scott Wortmann on 9 counts of third-degree promoting a sexual performance by a child. The indictment accused Wortman of sending multiple explicit videos and images of a minor under 17 via text message from a residence on Pleasant Street in Norwich, in September of last year.

State troopers responded to 5 incidents on I-88 Friday morning, during the morning commute with icy road conditions, vehicles slid off the road between Sidney & Davenport, 1 person was taken to Fox Hospital for minor injuries & was treated & released.
