The Norwich St. Baldrick’s event will be held in person on Saturday, March 18th at the American Legion Post 189 located at 29 Sheldon Street in Norwich at 1:00 PM. New Yorkers who receive SNAP assistance will get some more help during the month of February. Governor Kathy Hochul is announcing New Yorkers will get at least the maximum level of food benefits. It comes as federal funding for SNAP assistance is scheduled to dry up after February. All counties outside New York City should receive assistance by Friday, February 24th.

The State Department of Health dropped the mask mandate for healthcare facilities this past weekend. following a steady drop in COVID cases and deaths in recent months. The State Health Department still reminds Healthcare workers to be up to date on vaccinations and booster efforts. President Biden recently declared the federal public health emergency would come to an end on May 11th.

Delaware County District Attorney’s Office announced that 51 year old Charles Wise of Grand Gorge was convicted for DWI in the Town of Roxbury Court. The charge followed an investigation into a motor vehicle crash on State Highway 20, in Roxbury on September 1, 2022. Wise was sentenced to a 1-year conditional discharge, and his driver’s license was revoked for 6 months, he must also install and maintain an ignition interlock device in any motor vehicle he owns or operates for the next 12 months & he was ordered to pay a $500 fine, and to attend a victim impact panel.

The Susquehanna SPCA hosted an event last week in Oneonta, to meet with others in the field of animal care, to establish a program to deal with large numbers of feral cats in area communities. Susquehanna SPCA Executive Director Stacie Haynes told WCDO News about the meeting and their course of action:

Chobani Yogurt CEO and founder Hamdi Ulukaya, a Turkish immigrant, announced on Twitter that he has pledged $1-million dollars and will match up to $1-million in donations to his Turkish Philanthropy Funds charity to help those affected by the earthquake in Turkey. The charity’s website is tpfund.org.

York County South Carolina Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating the death of 55 year old Michael Aaron Ingraham of Endicott New York in Fort Mill. Ingraham’s body was discovered about 20 feet off the road by a passerby, Thursday Afternoon. So far, Investigators discovered Ingraham has no known family or acquaintances in the York County or surrounding areas.
