The Delaware County Chamber launched their 2021 Toys for Tots Campaign today, Delaware County Chamber President Ray Pucci explains:

Pucci said that any business that wants to have a Collection box should contact the Chamber at 746-2281. The campaign will run until December 3rd, then Chamber staff will pick up the toys from member businesses & deliver them to Delaware Opportunities, which will distribute the gifts to Delaware County families. To sign up a family in need of Christmas gifts contact Delaware Opportunities at 746-1715.

The application period for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is open until December 17th, they provide local fire departments with funding to purchase protective gear, vehicles, and other equipment and to conduct training for emergency personnel. In fiscal year 2020, the AFG Program awarded over $16 million in federal funding to fire departments across New York State. More information is available at fema.gov.

The Otsego County Department of Health announced that they have 129 active cases of COVID 19 with 6 people hospitalized, they reported more deaths since last week’s report, their total up to 74, the Health Department urges Otsego County Residents to get vaccinated, clinic locations can be found at bassett.org or otsegocounty.com, vaccines are also offered at many local pharmacies.

Delaware County Public Health reported 39 new COVID cases on Thursday & Friday, with a positivity rate at 5.38%, about twice the state average. Delaware County has 152 active cases, 10 are hospitalized and 202 are quarantined, only 52.4% of Delaware County Residents are fully vaccinated, 15% of the cases are among students & school district staff.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Investigators arrested 58-year-old Raymond Albertina of Walton, on 1 count each of 2nd & 3rd degree Grand Larceny. Albertina was accused of stealing property from business associates, on two separate occasions, in the Town of Walton and the Town of Franklin respectively. The total value of the stolen property was determined to be over $53,000.00. Albertina was arraigned in the Town of Walton Court on both charges and released to reappear at a later date.

Governor Hochul signed legislation that prohibits used car dealers from selling vehicles at retail without a functioning airbag. This bill is entitled “Anthony Amoros’ Law” after a young man from Rockland who died in a car crash in a car that was sold to him without airbags. Previously, there was no requirement that a used vehicle sold by a dealer would need to have a working airbag.
