The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce & Delaware Opportunities are continuing with what is now called the “Toys For Joy” campaign, Chamber President Ray Pucci told WCDO News that little has changed beyond the name change:

The State Department of Labor announced the release of new guidance to help employers better protect outdoor workers during heavy precipitation events and wildfire smoke hazards. This initiative builds on the Department’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of outdoor workers in extreme weather, following this summer’s higher temperatures, and last year’s Canadian Wildfire smoke adversely affecting outside conditions. Delaware Academy Central School District at Delhi will again be hosting area veterans for a special Veterans Day event on Thursday, November 8. Veterans and their families are invited to attend the event, beginning with a breakfast at 8:15 am, followed by an assembly and special program in the high school auditorium at 9:00 am. Veterans who are interested in attending are asked to RSVP by calling 607-746-1308.

37 year old Antwain Greene of Binghamton, was sentenced to 18 years to life for Criminal Possession of a Weapon Friday, in Broome County Court. In September of 2021, Greene was discovered to have a loaded and operable handgun, The Broome County Special Investigations Unit also discovered cocaine, ecstasy, and drug paraphernalia after a executing a search warrant at Greeneā€™s residence in Binghamton.

The State DEC declared a drought watch for 15 New York counties because of a significant shortage of rainfall and declining levels of stream-flow and ground water. The counties under drought watch locally are Delaware & Schoharie Counties, No mandatory restrictions are in place under a state Drought Watch but residents in affected area are advised to conserve water wherever possible.

The State Police at Troop C in Sidney are investigating reports of tampered Halloween candy containing razor blades. The affected candy was reportedly collected in the village of Bainbridge on Halloween night. Parents are urged to Double-check Halloween candy collected by children, Inspect wrappers and contents carefully, if you suspect tampered candy Contact the New York State Police at Sidney immediately & Do not allow children to consume potentially contaminated candy. State Police request any information that may aid in identifying the responsible individuals, they can be contacted at (607)561-7400.
