Governor Cuomo announced that the State is launching new security measures at Planned Parenthood sites across New York State. The State Police began increase patrols at Planned Parenthood locations across the state on Friday and on Monday will visit the more than 60 Planned Parenthood clinics and locations throughout New York to assist with security and emergency planning measures.

Chenango County Sheriff’s office arrested 31-year-old Andrew Gould of Sherburne for 3rd degree Assault, following an altercation with a Town of Sherburne. Gould is scheduled to appear in the Town of Sherburne court at a later date.

The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give blood to help ensure a sufficient blood supply throughout the holiday season. To make an appointment to donate blood, people can download the Red Cross Blood Donor App from app stores, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS. A blood drive will be held in Oneonta today from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 PM at Hartwick College.

The Bainbridge-Guilford Central School will hold a Board of Education Meeting on Monday, November 30, 2015 in the District Conference Room at 6:30 PM. Please note the change of date from the original meeting schedule. The Board of Education will also hold an additional meeting on December 1, 2015 at 6:30 PM in the District Conference Room to meet with Alan Pole, Education Consultant, regarding the Superintendent Search.

Oneonta Police Detectives arrested 24-year-old Montaville Richardson of Oneonta on charges of 1st degree rape, 2nd degree burglary, following an investigation into a sexual assault that in the City of Oneonta last Thursday. The investigation revealed that Richardson allegedly entered the home of an acquaintance without permission and performed sexual acts with the victim without her consent. Richardson was held at the City of Oneonta Police Department until arraignment at the City of Oneonta Court.

Jury deliberations were underway in a Manhattan Federal Courtroom this morning, in the trial of former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver. Silver’s trial is into the 5th week with the jury set to resume deliberations today. Silver was elected speaker of the New York State Assembly in 1994, he was forced to step down as speaker after his arrest in January on federal corruption charges.

Governor Cuomo announced that Patricia Groeber (Pronounced “Grober”) has been appointed First Deputy Superintendent of the New York State Police, which places her second in command of the 4,800 member Division. The appointment, made by Superintendent Joseph D’Amico, marks the first time that a female member has been appointed to the position in the 98-year history of the State Police. First Deputy Superintendent Groeber will oversee the daily operations of all aspects of the Division, including Field Command, Administration, Employee Relations and Internal Affairs. She first joined the State Police on September 22, 1986

The City of Oneonta Police Department is proudly hosting its 3rd annual toy drive for needy children in our community. If you would like to donate a toy for a boy or girl aged 1-15, we will gladly accept! Please drop off all toy donations to the Oneonta Police Department at 79 Main Street by 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15th. All proceeds will be turned over to the Salvation Army for distribution.

New York State allocated $1 million in the current state budget for the 2nd round of the New Farmers Grant Fund, to support beginning farmers. farms and farmers need to meet certain criteria, including having a farm operation of 150 acres or less, which produces an agricultural product as defined by the Guidelines; The 2015 Guidelines and Application for the New York State New Farmers Grant Fund are available at esd.ny.gov. State Police arrested 26-year-old Bryan Eichhorn of Laurens, for Felony DWI, driving without a locking device & other traffic violations. This arrest occurred after troopers observed Eichhorn failing to stop at a stop sign & speeding on Otsego County Route 10 in the Town of Laurens. Eichorn has a conviction for DWI within the last ten years; he was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Laurens court on December 7th.
