The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 56 year old John Nack & 25 year old Samantha Truax of Oneonta, after Deputies responded in the Town of Oneonta attempting to locate an individual wanted on charges for an unrelated investigation. While on scene, Nack was in possession of over 10 grams of suspected methamphetamine, during the execution of a search warrant, additional controlled substances were located. Nack & Truax were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, they were transported to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office. Nack was held in the Otsego County Correctional Facility for Arraignment, Truax was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Oneonta Court and released.

Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 63 year old Keith Hansen of Oneonta for Sex Offender Failure to update his Photograph, as required by someone on the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Hansen was located at a residence in the Town of Oneonta and transported to the Sheriff’s Office. Following arrest processing, the defendant was released on an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Town of Oneonta Court at a later date.

State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 28 in the Town of Otsego. A preliminary investigation indicated that a van operated by 21 year old Jackson Diliberto of Richfield Springs, crossed the center double yellow lines and struck a Nissan SUV, which went off the road, overturned and landed on its roof. The van contained 11 passengers including 9 children ages 7 to 10. The driver of the Nissan 65 year old Amy Valentine, West Winfield, was transported to Bassett Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, 3 children from the van, went to Bassett Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 in Marathon. 26 year old MD Sanzid Bin Rashid of the Bronx, was traveling north on I- 81 in a SUV, of the Marathon exit, Bin Rashid encountered slowed traffic due to construction, swerved to avoid stopped traffic and went into the left lane striking a Toyota, both exited the roadway, The Honda overturned, landing on its side. The operator of the Toyota, a 71-year-old male from New Jersey did not survive the crash. A passenger in the Toyota, a 70-year-old female of New Jersey was transported to Upstate Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Rashid was treated at the scene. The investigation continues.

Representatives from the State Department of Financial Services will meet with Delaware County residents tomorrow, who had property damage from the August 9th storms. The Otsego County Household Hazardous Waste days will be held today at the Unadilla Highway Building from 8:00 to 11:00 AM, and for small business today from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Meadows office complex; and tomorrow at the meadows office complex in Cooperstown from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
