The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 27 year old Chase Northrop of Morris following a a probation check by the Otsego County Probation Department. Northrop was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon after he was found to be in possession of a firearm while being convicted of a felony prior, he was released on an appearance ticket for Town of Morris Court at a later date.

Chenango County Health Department announced that a Rabies Clinic for dogs, cats & Ferrets will be held Saturday at the Oxford Academy High School Bus Garage. The Clinic will run from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, more information or registration is available at 607-337-1673.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 42 year old Kristina Hill of Cooperstown following the report of an accident on July 9th in the Town of Burlington. Hill was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Accident, Failure to Keep Right & Moving from a Lane Unsafely, Hill is accused of leaving the scene after crashing into a mailbox & failing to report the accident, also a child sustained an injury in the accident. Hill was issued Uniform Traffic Tickets returnable to the Town of Burlington Court at a later date.

State Police announced that the unidentified man police have been looking for since Wednesday afternoon, was taken into custody by members of Broome County SWAT Team Thursday Afternoon near his residence in the 6000-block of State Route 79 in the town of Fenton. There is no threat to the public. No injuries were reported to the man or to law enforcement, the investigation continues.

The Annual Ron Palmer Memorial Scholarship Fund 3rd annual fundraising show will be held Saturday with a variety of local musicians to raise money for those seeking careers in Music, long time area musician and organizer Bruce Beadle explains:

Beadle said that Palmer was a local jazz guitarist who played with Harry Chapin back in the 70’s, he passed away a few years ago after battling cancer. Tickets for the show are available at Nazzito’s Wines & Liquors, The Blarney Stone or at the door.

Delhi Telephone, or DTC, will be holding a Meet & Greet with Walton residents on Saturday from 11:00 to 2:00 PM at the Walton Fire Department, DTC Spokesman Jason Miller said there will be lunch and DTC will be donating to the Walton Fire Department:

Miller said that they are completing the infrastructure & installations in Walton this year & next year they should be able to begin the work to expand into the village of Sidney.

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced that the Property tax levy growth will be capped at 2% for 2024 for all counties, towns and fire districts, as well as 44 cities and 13 villages. DiNapoli’s office calculated the 2024 inflation factor at 6.26% which is well above the 2% allowable levy increase. The tax cap limits annual tax levy increases to the lesser of the rate of inflation or 2% with certain exceptions including a provision that allows municipalities to override the tax cap.
