The Main Street Sidney Revitalization Project will be getting underway next week. Sidney Grants Administrator John Redente explains:

The Project first calls for new wider sidewalks, with benches, & new trees within rain gardens. Both lanes of Main Street will be open, all businesses will be open their normal hours. Work will begin near the Sidney Library & work down to the railroad tracks.

Animal Adventure in Harpursville announced that the “Giraffe Cam” will be back up & running, after world wide viewing online of April the Giraffe giving birth to Tajiri several weeks ago. Animal Adventure operator Jordan Patch said that Tajiri will definitely be there this summer & possibly beyond that:

Patch said that the Giraffe cam would run 6 days a week from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday through Friday on the Animal Adventure YouTube channel. Other cameras will be up around the park in the shortly.

The Sidney Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual dinner this evening. This year’s “Citizen of the Years” will be honored, they are Paul Eaton and Carl Griffith, and The “Business of Years” is the Sidney Elks Club, who will host the Annual Dinner tonight, the doors open at 5:30, dinner is served at 6:30.

State DMV Officials announced that fake emails pretending to be from the department, and seeking the payment of fines, is a hoax. The DMV does not seek the payment of fines by Email, they suggest that you delete the email & never give out any financial information from unsolicited emails.

The Sidney Municipal Airport will host an Open House & Fly-In Breakfast this Sunday. The event runs from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Sunday. Plane rides & demonstrations & live music are also planned.

State Police arrested 58 year old Gasper Ciraolo of Bainbridge for Criminal Possession of Marihuana & traffic violations, after a traffic stop for a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker on County Road 39 in the Town of Bainbridge. The Trooper detected the odor of marihuana in the vehicle, a search found about 28 grams of marijuana. Ciraola was arraigned in the Town of Bainbridge Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $500 cash bail or $2,500 property bond. His next court date is on June 27, 2017.

Another American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held today in Norwich, at the offices of Commerce Chenango at 15 South Broad Street. The drive will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 PM, Parking is available in the city lot behind Hummel’s, with access to the Commerce Chenango offices from that lot. On Saturday, the Gilbertsville Village Improvement Society will celebrate its 136th birthday with a Gilbert Block Party from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. There will be live music, a silent auction and a raffle. All proceeds will go to fund the restoration for the re-installation of the original Gilbert Block Victorian soda fountain at the Gilbertsville Value Way.
