The State Health Department continues to vaccinate as many New Yorkers as possible against COVID 19. over 294,000 Doses were administered Thursday, & more Than 1.4 Million Doses were Administered Over Past 7 Days. State Police took fugitive Matthew Perry into custody without incident this morning. A search for Perry began Thursday after he eluded police in Cortland, Broome and Tioga Counties, he was wanted for the felony of Criminal Contempt in the City of Cortland. Perry was spotted by law enforcement in Cortland County and a vehicle pursuit was initiated into Broome County, it was eventually terminated. Perry was later spotted in his vehicle in Tioga County, he was eventually found on a logging trail in the town of Barton, where his vehicle caught on fire, which led to a brush fire and a vacant home fire. Perry was taken into custody & was evaluated at Wilson Medical Center. Perry is being charged with Reckless Endangerment, & other charges are pending.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division and Narcotics Division investigated Narcotics in the Chenango County Correctional Facility. Today, a search of the Correctional Facility found 28-year-old Joseph Amaro had allegedly ingested the drugs prior to being incarcerated, the drugs were located and secured prior to Amaro being able to introduce the drugs into the population of the jail. Amaro was later transported the hospital to be evaluated, Sheriff Ernest Cutting stated that the investigation is ongoing, and arrests can be expected in the upcoming days.

Oneonta City Officials announced that the 2 officers who responded to a domestic dispute on River Street Tuesday, that ended with police shooting 23 year old Tyler Green, have taken a leave of absence. Sergeant Ralph Pajerski is the officer who fired the shots that killed Green, after Police responded to the report of a domestic dispute with a knife wielding individual. The investigation has been turned over to the State Attorney general’s Office.

Chenango County Public Health reported 22 new COVID 19 cases today. Chenango officials report 114 active cases , 345 Active Quarantines & 4 are hospitalized, they have had 2934 Total Confirmed Cases.

Several area Fire Departments responded this afternoon to a reported structure fire at 18 Allen Street in Deposit. Deposit, Sidney, Masonville & Afton Fire Fighters responded to the call, shortly after 12:00 Noon Today. WCDO News will have more details as they become available.

The Sidney Fire Department released details about a generator belonging to the fire department was stolen from the intersection of State Route 8 and River Street on Sunday, April 2 between 12:30 & 2:30pm. The unit is described as a red Honda, model EV2000, anyone with information regarding the theft of the generator, should contact the Sidney Police department at 561-2301.

Fire Companies from all over the Tri-County region responded early this morning to a full y involved structure fire at Holiday Lanes on Oneonta’s South-side. The fire was reported at around 1:45 AM, The structure was reported as a total loss, the investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing.

The State Health Department reported 4,422 Patient Hospitalizations Statewide Wednesday, with 947 Patients in the ICU; 600 Intubated on ventilators and a Statewide Positivity Rate is 3.18%, 47 COVID-19 Deaths in New York State Wednesday.
