Binghamton Police arrested 36 year old Patrick Shea for 2nd degree murder & 4th degree arson, following the investigation into the fire February 12th at 1 Main Street, where Binghamton firefighter John Gaudet died. The fire was ruled as an arson, Shea was arraigned by a Grand Jury in Broome County Court on Friday, he was remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.

Norwich Police Department arrested 37 year old Leroy Lamar Lindsey for criminal sale & criminal possession of a controlled substance, plus forgery, following the investigation into the sale of Cocaine, Methamphetamine and use of counterfeit U.S. Currency. Norwich Police Department was able to make undercover purchases of cocaine and methamphetamine, plus Lindsey was allegedly circulating counterfeited $100 bills during this investigation. Lindsey was arraigned and was held on $25,000 bail to return to Norwich City Court at a later date.

48 year old Joseph Titsworth of Norwich has been apprehended in the state of Kentucky on Thursday, he was wanted as a fugitive from justice by the Norwich Police department, he was booked into the Henderson County Jail, he was wanted by Norwich Police since February 8th & is a Level 3 sex offender for a rape conviction dating back to 1996.

A Chenango County Grand Jury Indicted Danielle Froelich for criminal possession of a controlled substance, in connection with an incident on February 7th on State Highway 80 in the Town of Sherburne, where she allegedly possessed fentanyl with intent to sell. Froelich faces court action on the indictment at a later date.

55 year old Jeffrey Kaufman of Downsville was sentenced to 364 days in jail for each count of 3rd degree Assault. Kaufman admitted to attempting to assault Police Officers, on July 28, 2024. Officer Bryanna Houck of the Colchester Police Department was engaged in an unrelated traffic stop, Kaufman exited his residence & began to yell obscenities at Officer Houck, who called for & received assistance. the officers placed Kaufman under arrest for Obstruction of Governmental Administration and Disorderly Conduct, Kaufman attempted to damage the cruiser & spit on & kick at an officer & was still combative at the police station.

The State’s annual Burn Ban will start this Sunday March 16th & will run through May 14th. The DEC reported that the Open burning of debris is the single-largest cause of spring wildfires, when temperatures warm and the past fall’s debris and leaves dry out, wildfires can start and spread easily, further fueled by winds and a lack of green vegetation.

State Police arrested 51 year old Gordon Darling of Cortland, for 2nd degree Assault. Troopers were dispatched to reports of a disturbance between 2 men in Cortlandville, Darling struck the victim in the head with a sock filled with rocks. The victim was transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center where he was treated and released. Darling was processed & was transported to the Cortland County Correctional Facility for Arraignment.

The State Department of Labor reported that the number of private sector jobs in New York State increased over the month by 14,500, or 0.2%, to 8,466,400 in January. The State’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held constant at 4.4% in January, the labor force participation rate decreased to 60.8%.
