Unadilla will unearth & open a time capsule this July 4th that was buried on July 4th 1976 as part of the nation’s Bicentennial Celebrations, Unadilla Mayor Jake Cotten told WCDO News about the big day:

Cotten said that the Unadilla Rotary Club plans to place a number of items in a time capsule & bury it the same day, to have it opened 50 years later, to keep the tradition going.

Hospice & Palliative Care of Chenango and the New York State Veterans Home at Oxford recently finalized a long-awaited partnership which now allows residents of the home and their families to receive hospice care from the nurses and volunteers of the organization. Executive Director Kendall Johnson of Hospice & Palliative Care of Chenango told WCDO news about the partnership:

The final two weekends in March have been designated as New York State Maple Weekends, & the making maple syrup will be highlighted this year at Rogers Environmental Center during their Maple Magic Weekend Celebration in Sherburne on Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29, from 12PM-3PM on both days. The evaporator will be boiling in the Sugarshack, which will be open for syrup samples and educational demonstrations, The event will also feature live music, the Rogers Center is one of the state’s 4 environmental education centers, at 2721 state highway 80, Sherburne.

The Annual St. Baldrick’s head shaving fundraising event will be held at the Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich, Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, the annual event raises funds for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation in their effort to find a cure for cancer through research. The New York State Burn Ban will be in effect starting Monday until May 14th, The law stipulates that there will be no Burning of brush of debris in order to prevent wildfires or grass-fires from spreading during the driest time of the year.
