Governor Cuomo today announced more than $325 million in funding is available to help elderly and low- and moderate-income New Yorkers heat their homes this winter. Applications for the Home Energy Assistance Program will be accepted beginning Monday, November 14. Eligible households can receive a one-time benefit of up to $626, depending on income, household size and heating source. Last winter, more than 1.4 million households received assistance from the federally-funded program.

The total donated from Bainbridge Glow Run 2016 was $1,326. The money was raised to benefit Mindy Ives Natoli of Oxford for cancer related medical expenses; the event was held on September 17th in General Clinton Park in Bainbridge.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday that $30 million dollars will go towards developing infrastructure and testing facilities for drones. The money will be used to create a 50-mile flight traffic management system between Syracuse and Griffiss International Airport in Rome, which will feature sensors and other equipment to assist in the research and development of an infrastructure for these aircraft. The FAA is expected to allow for more drones to be for aerial photography, and educational purposes. Governor Cuomo hopes to have the new airstrip up and running by 2018.

THE SIDNEY WARRIORS FOOTBALL TEAM WILL COMPETE IN THE NYS CLASS-D QUARTERFINALS TONIGHT AT 5 PM AT CICERO-NORTH SYRACUSE HIGH SCHOOL. THE WARRIORS ARE THE SECTION IV CHAMPIONS AND WILL FACE SECTION 3 CHAMPION ONONDAGA. SIDNEY IS RANKED 7TH IN THE STATE HEADING INTO TONIGHT’S GAME AND ONONDAGA IS RANKED 4TH. THE LAST TIME THE WARRIORS MADE IT TO THE STATE QUARTERFINALS WAS 2006 WHICH WAS ONE YEAR AFTER THE 2005 RUN TO A CLASS-C STATE TITLE FOR SIDNEY. THE GAME CAN BE HEARD TONIGHT RIGHT HERE ON WCDO WITH THE PRE-GAME SHOW STARTING AT 4:50 PM.

State Senator Jim Seward announced that he will be at the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown on Tuesday. Seward is a member of the Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction, he will be joined by officials from LEAF Council on Alcoholism and Addictions, Bassett Healthcare Network, and Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals to unveil a collaborative initiative to help dispose of unused prescription medication.
