Bassett Healthcare Network announced the elimination of around 100 positions, the majority were administrative. Patient care would not be affected by the layoffs, which represent 2% of their total workforce.

On Saturday, from 10 am. to 2 pm. the Norwich City Police Department will participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event. The DEA and Norwich Police will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs, they can NOT accept syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The Norwich collection will be at the rear of the City of Norwich Police Department at 18 East Main Street, Norwich. The Otsego County Board of Elections announced that Early Voting for the November 5 General Election will begins tomorrow through November 3 at the Foothills Performing Arts Center, on Market Street in Oneonta & at The Meadows Office Complex, at 140 County Highway 33W in Cooperstown. Polls will be open from 9 am. to 5 pm. on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Polls will be open from 12 to 8 pm. on Tuesday and Thursday.
