State Senator Jim Seward addressed the Sidney Rotary club this afternoon, & discussed the upcoming legislative session. Seward told WCDO News that he would like to see movement quickly on the Constitution Pipeline in order for planned expansion for area businesses to go forward:

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Town of Oxford man for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance. The Narcotics Division arrested 24-year-old Travis DeMuth of Oxford following an investigation of the manufacturing and selling methamphetamine in Chenango County. DeMuth was located with the assistance of State Parole; he was arraigned in the Town of Oxford Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $30,000 cash bail. The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

Governor Cuomo today announced $4.2 million is available to support programs providing training to building operations and maintenance workers on best practices to reduce energy use and energy bills in buildings across the state. The funding will advance the state’s goal to transition to 50 percent renewables by 2030 and reduce energy use in buildings by 23 percent over 1990 levels.

If so, they would be provided with contract information for the New York State Division of Veterans’ Affairs in order to ensure that the individual is receiving all of the benefits to which he or she is entitled

State Police are looking for information regarding 46-year-old Paul Schwartfigure of Whitney Point, who was last seen on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, around 4:00 pm. Schwartfigure is known to frequent the village of Whitney Point and is often seen riding a bicycle. He is described as a male, 5’11”, 210 pounds, last seen wearing a black Carhart jacket, blue jeans, black boots, and a winter cap. The bicycle is a dark blue or black huffy older model mountain bike with red on the tires and handgrips. Schwartfigure is also known by the nickname of Bear. Anyone with information on Schwartfigure’s whereabouts is asked to call the New York State Police at (607) 775-1241.

NY State of Health, the state’s official health plan Marketplace today announced that consumers now have three additional days to enroll in a health plan with coverage starting February 1. The deadline has been extended through 11:59 p.m., January 18. The previous deadline was January 15.
