The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Matthew Sieger of Bainbridge Tuesday for 2^nd degree Burglary & Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.   Sieger is accused of breaking into someone’s home with another person & stealing several items. Sieger was arraigned in the Town of Coventry Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional facility on $2,500 cash bail, he’ll appear in the Town of Coventry Court at a later date to answer to his charges.

SUNY Oneonta is sponsoring a program called “Reducing Gun Violence,” tonight at 7:00 PM in the Red Dragon Theater on campus. The program will identify and evaluate remedies for reducing gun violence. After formal remarks by the panelists, a question-and-answer session will follow.   The program is open to the public.

Members of the public learned how to administer Naloxone, a medication that counters the effects of drug overdose, during a free training session yesterday at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton. Lourdes Hospital’s Youth Services Program in Binghamton hosted the free training session along with the Southern Tier AIDS Program. The medication is intended to revive someone experiencing an overdose of drugs like heroin, oxycodone, methadone and Vicodin. Lourdes has planned another session for December 9th.

The National Weather Service kicked off its Winter Weather Awareness Week yesterday.   The NWS recommends people stock up on a three-day supply of food and water, start planning alternate heating options and winterize cars. The National Weather Service recommends not only having proper tires, windshield wipers, and fluids but also stocking cars properly, in the event that you get stranded. You should have a warm blanket, a cell phone, a charger and non-perishable food in your car at all times.

New York legislators are now encouraging health care professionals to travel to West Africa to treat Ebola patients. Governor Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a program to provide financial incentives and other employment protections to those who volunteer. The state will work to make sure workers would have their pay, health care, and employment statuses continue when they get back.
