The Oneonta common council will hold their next regular meeting tonight at city hall.  The regular meeting will begin at 7:00 PM in the common council chambers, prior to that at 6:00 PM, the council will see the “Parks Master Plan” presentation.

The city of Norwich will be receiving a 4 million dollar loan and $1 million grant from the USDA’s Rural Development Program to for building a new water treatment plant.  Norwich’s treatment plant has been in operation for more than a century, the funding came through a joint effort from US Senators Schumer & Gillibrand and Congressman Richard Hanna.

The New York Farm Bureau announced that the state Assembly unanimously passed the 2% Agricultural Assessment Cap previously passed by the State Senate. The bill will help rein in rising property taxes on farm properties; it goes to Governor Cuomo’s desk for approval.

A Binghamton man has been detained after a flight from Hong Kong to Newark airport following various outbursts.  The man identified himself to authorities as Daniel Morgan Perry of Binghamton, Perry warned passengers regarding government agencies and Edward Snowdon, the leaker of information from the NSA, who is believed to be hiding in Hong Kong currently.  Members of the flight crew detained Perry, he was taken to an unidentified hospital for observation, no injuries were reported, and Perry will be facing charges shortly.

State Police arrested 39-year-old Evelyn Augusto of Sandy Hook, Connecticut for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, as well as other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations after a traffic stop on State Route 30 in the Town of Middletown in Delaware County.  Augusto was arraigned in the Town of Middletown Court and released on her own recognizance to reappear at a later date.

State comptroller Tom DiNapoli released “The Fiscal Stress Monitoring System” results today, from data collected & analyzed through the end of last month.   The data was collected from annual financial reports submitted by local governments to DiNapoli’s Office.  Locally, Broome County ranked highest on the “Susceptible for Fiscal Stress” chart from 54 municipalities that have their fiscal year end on December 31st.

Delaware County Fair officials today announced that there would be a 5K run at the fair this year.  Officials said that the run will start and end on the fairgrounds, there will be a variety of prizes & giveaways.  The cost of he event is $20 if registered by August 1st and $25 after that. More information will be available shortly at delawarecountyfair.org.

State Troopers arrested 22-year-old Frederick Schum of Binghamton for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. The arrest was the result of a complaint on Loughlin Road in Kirkwood; Schum was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Kirkwood Town Court on July 2nd.

The 18th annual Gus Macker 3 on 3-basketball tournament will be held in downtown Norwich the weekend of July 13th.  Macker organizer Tom Revoir said that they are in need of volunteers known as “Gus Busters”:
