Oneonta fire fighters responded to a blaze at 34 Watkins Avenue Sunday morning.  No one was home when the fire broke out, it was reported by neighbors at around 8:40 AM.  Fire crews from West Oneonta, Otego, Worcester, Sidney and Franklin were called in, the Joseph family will be staying with relatives, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

State Troopers arrested 32-year-old George Astalos of South New Berlin for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop in Hancock; Astalos was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Village of Hancock Court at a later date.

State Police conducted an underage drinker initiative detail across Chenango County Saturday, which resulted in no arrests for the underage sale of alcohol.  Stores in compliance included the Mirabito Quickway stores of Norwich & Oxford, Valero in Oxford & Norwich, Hess express in Norwich & North Norwich, the Sunoco Convenience Express, in Norwich, as well as the Xtra Mart in Greene, Taylor’s Mini-Mart Norwich, Kwik Fill, Norwich, the Norwich Country Store & Kitchen, & USA Gas Mini Mart in Greene.

A Binghamton man has admitted to receiving heroin through the mail in January.  The package was collected by Edward Ciarleglio of Binghamton it was delivered by an undercover police officer.  The package contained narcotics, opiates and heroin.  Ciarleglio pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute heroin.

State lawmakers worked to make things easier for dairy farmers, as they struggle to meet the increased demands from the wildly growing Greek yogurt industry.  Assembly agriculture committee chairman Bill Magee Explains;

New York recently became the largest producer of yogurt in the 50 states, beating out California by about 15%.
