State Police arrested 53-year-old Donna Huzinec of Norwich, for 1 count of 2nd degree Grand Larceny & 20 counts each of 2nd degree Forgery & Falsifying Business Records.
The arrests were made following an investigation into the defendant allegedly filing for and receiving payments for services she did not provide while being employed by Springbrook Residential Services. Huzinec was issued an appearance ticket for the Pharsalia Town Court on August 28th.

Attendance continued to soar at the New York State Fair in Syracuse. Officials said 83,438 people passed through the turnstiles yesterday, 381 more than last year. Sunday’s attendance marked highest first-Sunday attendance in the last five years. So far this year, 4,920 more people have attended the first four days of the fair than during the same time period last year.

A statewide crusade against texting while driving spurred law enforcement agencies, in the Southern Tier and across New York state, to hand out record numbers of tickets last year for texting behind the wheel. Texting-while-driving tickets more than doubled from 2012 to 2013, & the number grew after the state changed texting and driving from a secondary offense to a primary one in 2011. Fines for texting and driving can be as much as $150 for the first offense, $200 for the second offense and $400 each time beyond that within 18 months.

The Norwich Police, in conjunction with the Chenango County STOP- DWI office, will conduct several Sobriety Road Checks in the coming week at various locations in the county. The first Road Check will be tonight. The road checks are a highly visible method of reminding the public to Not Drink and Drive.

Democratic Gubernatorial Primary Candidate, Zephyr Teachout will appear this Wednesday at 5:15 PM in front of the Court House at 92 Court Street in downtown Binghamton. Teachout is seeking to unseat Andrew Cuomo in the democratic primary on September 9th, she teaches law at Fordham University and apposes Hydraulic fracturing.

Governor Cuomo announced the launch of the online State Recruitment Resources Center, which will serve as the online employment recruitment location for job seekers, who are certified eligible for participation in the Governor’s Program, to Hire Persons and Veterans With Disabilities. State Police arrested 50-year-old Jeff Winegard of Whitney Point for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Troopers responded to a Broome County 911 report of a one-car accident on Hickory Street in Triangle. Winegard was issued tickets for Town of Triangle court September 3rd.
