Another winter storm is heading in our direction again; as forecasters try to determine how much precipitation we will see.  Sidney High School Teacher & Meteorologist Rich Townsend told WCDO News what he expects:

The Chenango county sheriffs department arrested 18-year-old Austin Demuth of Oxford Saturday, on an active arrest warrant issued by the Town of Oxford Court.  Deputies from the Chenango & Broome County Sheriff’s Offices responded to a residence in the Town of Colesville and located Demuth, he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, following an investigation into an incident that occurred in the Town of Oxford in January, and he arraigned in the Town of Oxford Court. Demuth was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $500 cash bail & will appear in court at a later date.

Governor Andrew Cuomo and state leaders met Sunday to discuss the state budget.  Cuomo and leaders in both the State Senate & Assembly stated that they expect to pass the budget on time for the 3rd straight year, something that had not been accomplished in 30 years.  Area assemblyman Cliff Crouch said that he had a couple of concerns regarding agricultural programs that the Governor left unfounded in his executive budget:

Crouch said that the $143 billion budget could be adopted as early as this Thursday of Friday, well before the traditional April 1st deadline.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Charles Cartee of Norwich for Petty Larceny and 2nd degree Obstruction of Governmental Administration.   Cartee is accused of stealing the property of the victim and obstructing the Police investigation by giving police the wrong location of the stolen items.  Cartee was issued an appearance ticket and released, he will appear in the City of Norwich and the Town of Oxford court at a later date.

The town of Chenango forks fire chief Lewis Merritt has been charged offering a false instrument for filing and official misconduct, for allegedly falsifying paperwork to obtain a vehicle for personal use that had been donated to the fire company.  Merritt was taken into custody Sunday By Broome County Deputies; he was issued appearance tickets for City of Binghamton Court at a later date.

A series of workshops and presentations about energy efficiency has begun with a good turnout the to the first event, at SUNY Oneonta’s Hunt Union.   Several county agencies teamed up the workshops on how homeowners, small businesses, and non-profits can get a thorough energy assessment of their home or office at no cost.  The next workshop will be held at the Cherry Valley Community Center on Wednesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, other workshops are scheduled for April 10th in Morris, and April 27th in Edmeston, more information is available at 723-0110, registrations are available at energywiseotsego.eventbrite.com.
