Governor Cuomo’s favorability rating has dropped in recent weeks, but according to a new Siena Poll showed that 64% still view Cuomo favorably.  Cuomo’s highest rating was at 77% in February of last year.  Cuomo took a hit in popularity following the quick passage of the New York safe act and for the continued stalling of the lifting of a moratorium on gas drilling statewide.  President Obama maintains at 56% favorable rating among New Yorkers in the same poll.

Upstate Lawmakers with poor rural school districts are looking for changes this year, to keep schools from becoming bankrupt.  Assemblyman Cliff crouch comments:

State aid numbers will be released in the next couple of weeks as lawmakers put together a state budget plan by the April 1st deadline.

Delaware County Sheriffs Department investigated a 2 Car Property Damage Automobile accident at the intersection of Dry Brook Rd and Turnpike Rd in the Town of Meredith.  49-year-old Donald Aitken was operating a Town of Meredith plow truck, and with the corner of the plow, he hit a Subaru Legacy driven by 55 year old Yael Herzog of Walton.  Deputies said that there were no injuries and no tickets were issued and both vehicles were driven from the scene.

The Delaware County Sheriffs Deputies were dispatched to a 1 Car Personal Injury automobile accident on State Route 206 in the Town of Walton. 33-year-old Erin Serra of Walton was traveling west on State Route 206 when she lost control of her SUV & struck a snow and earth embankment.  Investigators determined that icy road conditions were the cause of the accident, & that excessive speed was NOT a factor.  Serra was transported to Delaware Valley Hospital, where she was treated & released.

The Chenango county sheriffs department arrested 31-year-old Brett Lorimer of Norwich, for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.   Lorimer was charged following a traffic stop in the Town of North Norwich, where he is accused of possessing Marijuana, he faces action in North Norwich court at a later date.

US Senator Charles Schumer is opposing a plan by the Transportation Security Administration to allow airline passengers to bring small knives on board passenger aircraft.  Schumer said that these items pose an obvious safety threat, along with other items that the TSA is considering to allow on planes, including novelty baseball bats, billiard cues, and hockey sticks. All of the items mentioned have been banned since the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks.  TSA officials said that pilots and air marshals are trained to provide security should any of these items be used as a weapon.

State Police in Binghamton arrested 28-year-old Lisa Lovell of Binghamton, and 27-year-old Anthony Calla of Kirkwood for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. The arrests result from a traffic stop on Interstate 81 in the town of Chenango, Both were issued Appearance Tickets returnable in the Town of Chenango Court on March 20th.

State Troopers arrested 44-year-old Richard Phillips of Windsor,  for Petty Larceny. The arrest resulted from a complaint at a market in Kirkwood,  Phillips was arraigned in the Town of Kirkwood Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.
