The Sidney Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual dinner tonight.  This year, the Citizen of the Years award will go to Dennis Porter:

The annual event will be held at the Sidney Elks Club on River Street at 5:30 PM.  Hathaway & Porter will also be the Grand Marshals of tomorrow’s Sidney Federal Credit Union Hometown Day parade.

The 25th annual Sidney Federal Credit Union Hometown Day Parade will be held tomorrow from the Sidney High School, down west Main, to Main Street, to River Street & ending at Keith Clark Park.  SFCU Spokesperson Elise Glassett comments:

The Sidney Police Department has parking restrictions and street closings in effect for the Hometown Day Parade tomorrow.   No Parking rules are in effect on Main Street and River Street from 7:00 a.m. to the conclusion of the parade, street closures include Circle Drive from Fox to West Main at 11:00 AM, and at 12:30 closures will be Main Street at State Route 7, West Main Street from Loomis Drive to Main Street, East Main Street from Beale Boulevard to Main Street, and River Street from Colegrove to Main Street. Tomorrow’s parade will begin at 1:00 PM.

The Salvation Army Sidney emergency Disaster team is holding a food drive to help victims of Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey.  Team Spokesperson Marie Cole explains:

The annual Algonquin antique & Collector Auto show & Flea Market will beheld this Sunday, at general Clinton park in Bainbridge.  Award trophies will be present to the top 3 entries in each of the 24 classes, vehicles to be judged must be on the field by 12:00 Noon.  More information is available at 967-7185.

A benefit for 4-½ year old Bailey Tomas of Sidney will be held at the Sidney VFW on Sunday at noon, to raise funds for a 2nd open-heart surgery and the insertion of a new pacemaker at a Rochester New York Hospital.  Proceeds will benefit the family’s traveling and medical expenses, more information is available at 563-7857.

Filmmaker Josh Fox will bring his latest film “GASLAND 2” to the Walton theater for a free screening Sunday at 1:00 PM. The film is a sequel to Fox’s controversial first film “Gasland” which opposes the gas drilling method Hydraulic Fracturing.
