State Police responded to a reported robbery yesterday at Arby’s Restaurant on State Route 7 in Oneonta. A white male approximately 6’ to 6’ 2” tall, medium build, wearing a full face mask, dark colored hooded sweatshirt with Monster & Fox Racing logos & work-gloves entered the store, presented a note to the cashier and indicated that he possessed a gun. No gun was displayed; the subject left the store with an undetermined amount of cash.   No vehicle was observed at the scene, anyone with information is requested to contact the State Police at 432-3211.

Governor Cuomo announced the winners of New York Rising to the Top competition for the best Reconstruction Plans following the last 3 years of extreme weather events across the state. Work is continuing at the Sidney school district athletic fields, with the bulk of the work scheduled for after the school year.   Sidney Superintendent Bill Christensen explains:

The Unadilla chamber of commerce will hold their annual dinner on Sunday, at the Unadilla 1st Methodist church. The event begins at 4:30 PM Sunday, the chamber will honor LaFever Tree Experts as the business of the year, Chet & Donna French as the Good Neighbor award winners and the community pride award to Anna Ritchey.

Hunters harvested approximately 243,550 deer during the 2013-14 hunting seasons, nearly equivalent to last year, according to DEC Commissioner Joe Martens.   The 2013 deer take included approximately 128,850 antlerless deer and about 114,700 adult bucks, both estimates being within 4% of the 2012 take. The “Life is Good” Tri-Town Relay for Life Committee will be holding a fundraiser tomorrow from 6:00 pm to Midnight at the Sidney Elks Club.   A DJ, Buffet Dinner, Door Prizes, Raffles, & refreshments will be provided. Tickets available at the door. The team is raising funds for the American Cancer Society’s upcoming relay for life event.

The New York Jets will return to SUNY Cortland for training camp this year, under a renewal of the team’s partnership agreement with the college. The Jets will report to campus in July for its fifth year in Cortland under head coach Rex Ryan. Definite dates for training camp have not yet been determined, but will be posted at cortland.edu as soon as they are available.
