The state Assembly wrapped up voting on Budget Bills Thursday after the State Senate completed their budget bills Wednesday.  Area assemblyman Pete Lopez commented about the final product:

The budget will finish up at 141.5 billion dollars, Governor Cuomo is expected to sign it today, and it’s the third straight on time budget.

A New scam Is being Perpetrated by phone where area residents have received calls attributed to Microsoft, Time Warner or an anti-virus company, the callers eventually convince the residents that they can fix their computer problems, if they are granted access.  Jakkie Bickos of Country Computers in Unadilla explains:

Bickos said that it’s always a good idea to change all of your passwords if they have allowed access to whir PC’s; & it is not a good idea to give any kind of information out to unknown callers.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and the Village of Sherburne Police Department executed a “no knock” search warrant, following a lengthy investigation by Narcotics Detectives into the distribution of heroin.   Detectives seized heroin, cocaine, marihuana, scales, packaging material, an illegally possessed rifle and cash, charged were 21 year old Jennah Shreve, 23 year old Joshua Trask & 22 year old Dustin Dunagan of Sherburne on a variety of drug charges. .   Shreve & Trask were arraigned & were sent to the Chenango county jail on $1000 cash bail, Dunagan was released on an appearance ticket in the Village of Sherburne Court at a later date.   More arrests are pending, & the investigation is continuing.

State Police at Sidney arrested 27-year-old Anthony Albro of Walton, for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana and on an active Arrest Warrant from Village of Walton Court. The arrest resulted from an investigation into a reported intoxicated individual at the Village Laundromat in Bainbridge, Albro was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Village of Bainbridge Court on April 8th, he was then turned over to the Village of Walton Police Department on the active arrest warrant.

The State Labor Department announced that the final January private sector job count was 7.4 million, the State’s unemployment rate remained at 8.4%. Locally, Delaware county lost jobs in February, Otsego, Chenango & Broome all had slight jobs gains last month.

State Police are reminding motorists to slow down & move over when they see emergency or hazard vehicles on the side of state roads and highways.  State Police will initiate special traffic enforcement efforts starting Monday April 1st through the 7th.  The  “Move Over Law” requires drivers to move over in order to avoid colliding with an authorized emergency or hazard vehicle, which is parked, stopped or standing on the shoulder of a road or highway with its emergency lights activated.

The Binghamton Zoo’s Easter Eggstravaganza event will be on Saturday & Sunday this weekend, from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm both days. Ticket booth closes at 3:00 pm.   The Easter Bunny, an egg hunt, crafts, games, and face painting are all scheduled.
