Governor Cuomo announced that FEMA has informed New York State that residents in communities affected by the recent flooding will NOT be eligible for the Individual Assistance program to help homeowners rebuild and recover. Cuomo said that if federal assistance is not provided, the State of New York will step in to provide whatever is needed, as an effective government is one that serves the people and when disaster strikes is there to help.
New York State will be participating in a pilot program created by the USDA to test if it is cost effective to incorporate Greek yogurt into school lunch programs. U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand & Congressman Richard Hanna worked with the USDA, Chobani & other yogurt manufacturers to create the pilot program, 3 other states will be participating in the program: Tennessee, Idaho, and Arizona. The pilot program is only for the 2013-2014 school year. New York leads the country in Greek yogurt production.

Delaware County Sheriffs Deputies arrested 55-year-old John All of Kortright following a domestic incident in the Town of Kortright on July 4th All is charged with 2nd degree Harassment, Resisting Arrest and Obstruction of Governmental Administration. He was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court on the charges and remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $2,500 cash bail.

THE NEW YORK FARM BUREAU PRESIDENT Dean Norton said that the bureau cannot support the Farm Bill that passed in the House last week, due to the splitting of the agriculture and nutrition portions into separate bills that break apart the urban-rural collaboration. Norton said that they could not support a process that has unknown long-term ramifications, they call for a new Farm Bill that serves the needs of farmers, as well as the underfed who would be denied access to farm products.

Unadilla town highway officials announced that Lockwood Hill Road is closed again today. The road is closed due to a repaving project.
