Congressman Chris Gibson announced the House Energy & Commerce Committee approved the Tick-borne Disease Research Transparency and Accountability Act of 2014. Gibson’s legislation forms an interagency working group consisting of federal agencies, Lyme physicians and patient advocates, who are tasked with ensuring coordination among federal agencies to maximize research priorities.

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced that State sales tax collections grew by $177 million, or 2.4% for the 1st half of 2014 compared to the same period last year. The gains were driven primarily by New York City collections up 4.8% or $152 million, Upstate sales tax collection were nearly flat, Central New York had a 1.5% increase in the first half of the year.
