THE CHENANGO COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMETN ARRESTED 27-YEAR-OLD Matthew Towndrow of Oxford, on an active bench warrant for failing to appear at the Chenango county jail to begin serving a jail sentence. Towndrow was found hiding in a residence n the town of North Norwich, he was charged with resisting arrested, was arraigned and was remanded to the Chenango county jail on $5,000 cash bail. He will appear in Norwich court at a later date.

The Chenango county sheriffs department arrested 22-year-old Ashley Schermerhorn and 37 year old Jared Backus of Afton for 3rd degree criminal tresspass. Deputies responded to the Norwich Wal-Mart Monday when the pair entered the store, they had been banned following previous allegation of stealing merchandise. Both were taken into custody and face court action shortly.

DOT Officials announced that work continues in the Kamikaze curve reconstruction project in Binghamton. Paving work will be performed on I-81 northbound between exits 4 & 5 from 9:00 until 3:00 today; lane shifts & a driving lane closure will be in effect. Paving work will also close state route 7 southbound ramp to I-81 & the southbound ramp to I-81 northbound, detour signs will direct motorists to I-81 in the desired directions.

The Delaware county department of public works is announced that weight restrictions on certain county roads have been lifted the restriction were in effect in February and were removed this week, on county route 7,10.16.23.26.35 & 67, more information is available at 746-2128.

The American Red Cross is hosting 2 blood drives in Sidney in the next couple of days. Today’s will be at the Tri-Town regional hospital from 10:00 AM to 32:00 PM, on Saturday, a blood drive will beheld from 10:30 to 3:30 at Saint Luke’s Church.
