Governor Cuomo’s staff will announce the boundaries of the tax-free zones for the program StartUp NY shortly.  The program erases all taxes for businesses willing to start up on SUNY campuses, some private campuses and some land near colleges. More information is available at startup-ny.com.

Governor Cuomo announced that 17 counties would compete for more than $13 million to fund efforts to reduce firearm-related crimes, shootings, and homicides through the state’s new Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) initiative. The initiative is designed to build upon the crime-fighting successes those jurisdictions experienced while participating in Operation IMPACT, locally, Broome County has been involved previously in Operation Impact.
