Fire fighters from all over the region responded to a fire at Matteson Hall dormitory at the state university at Oneonta yesterday afternoon. The fire broke out in a third floor dorm at around 4:00 PM, the building was safely evacuated the red cross was called in to assist dorm residents, the fire was extinguished in less than 2 hours, college officials believe that all residents were accounted for, the cause of the fire is under investigation.

State Police arrested 47-year-old CASEY CALLAHAN of Norwich for 3 counts of 1st degree Criminal Sexual Act & 1 count of endangering the Welfare of a Child. The arrest is the result of an investigation into sexual relationships the defendant allegedly had with underage victims, he was arraigned in the Town of Unadilla Court and remanded to Otsego County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond. State Police arrested 28-year-old ANTHONY RAGGI of Binghamton for 2nd degree Criminal Sexual Act, following an investigation into an alleged sexual relationship with an underage victim, while employed as a teacher for the Susquehanna Valley School District in 2012. Raggi was arraigned in the Town of Kirkwood Court and released on his own recognizance pending further court proceedings. 40-year-old Robert Wilsey of Harpersfield was arrested as a part of a continuing, joint investigation being conducted by the Delaware and Otsego County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Divisions and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in cooperation with State Police. Deputies charged Wilsey with 2nd degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, for allegedly possessing over 5 ounces of Oxycodone powder, with street value of $50,000. Wilsey is being held in the Delaware County jail without bail, officials said that Wilsey is expected to face additional charges and additional arrests are anticipated. Investigators continue to work with the Covidien to identify sources of diverted pharmaceutical narcotics from within the Pharmaceutical Company.

State Senator Jim Seward will be in Delaware County, at the County Office Building in Delhi. Senator Seward is touring his senatorial district this week to kick off the 2013 senate session and to outline his legislative agenda. Seward will begin at 3:00 PM in the Board of Supervisors Room.
