The hunt for fugitives David Sweat & Richard Matt ended yesterday, with Sweat being captured by State Police, 2 days after Police fatally shot Richard Matt. Governor Andrew Cuomo gave details of yesterdays apprehension at a press conference in Malone last night:

Sweat will be arraigned on a host of charges after his release from an Albany area hospital, the investigation into how Sweat & Matt escaped the Clinton County Prison continues.

Congressman Chris Gibson announced that Hannah Sell is the winner of the 2015 Congressional Art Competition for the 19th Congressional District. Hannah’s acrylic painting “Deployment,” depicts American troops riding aboard a vehicle in the fading sunlight, it will be part of a year-long exhibit at the U.S. Capitol featuring works by students from across the country. Hannah and her mother met with Congressman Gibson June 24th and attended a reception for contest winners at the Capitol. Congressman Gibson encourages students from the 19th District to submit original photos, paintings, or drawings for entry in next year’s Congressional Art Competition; more information is available at 202-225-5614.

The Delaware County Sheriffs department announced that following a recent change in state law, Fireworks remain illegal in Delaware County. The Sale and use of Sparkling Devices is legal only in counties and cities that have enacted a local law, and Delaware County has not enacted such legislation. Firecrackers, bottle rockets, roman candles, spinners and aerial devices, remain illegal statewide.

The Oneonta Common Council will have a special meeting at 6:00 PM today. The Council will consider approval of the applications for certain grants relating to the operating of the Oneonta Municipal Airport. The meeting will be held in the Common Council chambers at City Hall it will be open to the public.
