The national weather service confirmed that an F1 tornado touched down Friday night, from South Afton Road in Bennettsville, across Neff Hill and crossing state route 8 between Masonville & Sidney Friday night.  The tornado touched down at around 7:53 PM, caused damaged to numerous structures, knocked down trees and damaged vehicles, the maximum width was 200 yards with a length of 3.2 miles, with gusts estimated at up to 110 miles an hour.  No injuries were reported.

The Delaware County District Attorney Investigator’s issued a criminal summons to 38-year-old Frederick Hooper of Delhi, for 4th degree Welfare Fraud.  It’s alleged that Hooper received an overpayment of $2039.40 from the Delaware County Department of Social Services that were directly a result of Mr. Hooper failing to report his entire income, he faces court action shortly.

Motorists are advised that construction work at Prospect Mountain will require a long-term lane reduction on State Route 17 westbound over the Chenango River.  Two travel lanes will be reduced to one lane of travel beginning at approximately 9:00 AM this morning.

The Delaware County District Attorney Investigators arrested 40-year-old Chad Mace of Davenport for Endangering the Welfare of Child.  Mace was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Davenport Court at a later date.

The Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce will hold their next “Business After Hours” event today.  The program will run from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Bob’s Diner.
