Officials are investigating yesterday afternoon’s collapse of the Baldwin Street parking garage at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City. A number of cars were destroyed, but no one was found in any of the lower level vehicles. Work crews with cranes removed top-level vehicles overnight & the investigation is ongoing.

State Police responded to a call for a person in the water at the Whitney Point dam at Dorchester Lake. Trooper Donald Atkinson entered the water and swam to the dam’s outflow tunnels and located the 14-year-old victim, who was unable to swim out of tunnel due to the strong current. A Good Samaritan entered the water, throwing Trooper Atkinson a rope, Trooper Lawrence Gurdo entered the water, and assisted Trooper Atkinson, the victim grabbed a rope & was pulled to safety. The victim was transported to Lourdes Hospital for treatment.

Delaware County Public Health will be providing a Car Seat Safety Event during Fair on the Square at The Delaware National Bank of Delhi at 121 Main Street in Delhi, today from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
