Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that Binghamton University has broken ground on the Southern Tier High Technology Incubator, marking the start of construction on a major economic development project in downtown Binghamton. The incubator was endorsed as a priority project by the Southern Tier Regional Economic Development Council and awarded $7 million to support the construction of the $19 million facility, which will provide a unique entrepreneurial ecosystem for emerging high-technology companies and is expected to enable more than 900 jobs within the next nine years.

Governor Cuomo announced the Farm to Fork Solutions Forum to focus on helping New York State food and beverage manufacturers grow their business. FuzeHub will host the forum and connect businesses with technical experts to identify solutions to overcome challenges to growth. To date, FuzeHub has assisted more than 450 manufacturing companies across New York. The Farm to Fork Solutions Forum will be held today at Rochester Institute of Technology from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm.

As baseball’s best begin their quest for postseason celebrations, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will celebrate an unforgettable 2014 with a little help from its Otsego County friends and neighbors. The Hall of Fame will host Community Day on Sunday, Oct. 5, with all Otsego County residents admitted to the Museum free of charge during normal Museum hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Museum will host programs throughout the day as well as a 1:30 p.m. Cider and Donuts Reception featuring Hall of Fame Chairman of the Board Jane Forbes Clark and Museum President Jeff Idelson, who will share details on upcoming Museum initiatives and take questions from visitors.

New York State Assemblyman Cliff Crouch is among the inaugural class for the Unatego Hall of Distinction, which will be inducted during Homecoming activities tonight. Crouch graduated from Unadilla High School in 1963 & has served in the state Assembly since 1995. Crouch was selected for the inaugural class, along with Irmabelle Sheldon, Richard Licht and Perry Secor, who will be inducted posthumously. The induction of the first class will be during halftime of Unatego’s Homecoming football game tonight.
