Governor Cuomo’s 2015 State of the State Address will be delivered to a joint session of the legislature on January 21st at 1:30PM at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany. Registration for those interested in attending can be filled out at governor.ny.gov/content/2015-state-state-registration; those who had previously registered for the original State of the State date must re-register. The registration period ends Thursday, January 15th at 5:00 PM. In the event that the number of requests exceeds available seating, attendees will be selected by lottery & will be notified of their selection by email by January 20th.

Landowners in favor of hyydrofracking are preparing legal action to reverse the state’s recently enacted ban against the process to drill horizontally for natural gas in the Marcellus shale that under much of the southern tier. Dan Fitzsimmons of the Joint Landowners Coalition of New York sad that the ban was passed due to speculation & false pretenses:

Fitzsimmons said that New York also enacted the ban, as new stricter federal laws are about to be passed that would address the activists concerns about the process of hydrofracking.

Additional laws may be needed this year in New York’s state to combat the growing heroin epidemic. Area Assemblyman Cliff Crouch said that police & emergency crews are delivering heroin antidotes to some of the same people two of three times, and more needs to be done to help those kick the habit:
