Governor Cuomo invites Sidney area residents to participate in the State Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Program on Wednesday August 12th at 6:00 PM at the Sidney High School Auditorium. Each family that attends will receive a Disaster Preparedness Backpack containing an AM/FM Radio, Flashlight, drop cloth, Light Stick, 2 D Batteries, First Aid Kit, Face Mask, Goggles, 6 packs of Drinking Water, Food Bars, Blanket, Duct Tape, Work Gloves, Water Bottle Registration is requested at prepare.ny.gov/training-events, Click on the Register box next to the Sidney event listed and fill out the short registration form, Then choose the Delaware County Sidney location from the drop down menu. State Police at Sidney are investigating the theft of some gold jewelry and gold coins that were taken from a home in the Town of Sidney, sometime after July 6th. Among the items missing, a 1960’s era gold charm bracelet with 5 heart-shaped gold charms, with “Henry”, or “Jeanette” engraved, a Gold ring with a heart and diamond chip in the heart-shaped setting, a Gold necklace with a gold heart-shaped pendant & 2 gold bullion one-ounce coins. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 561-7400.

There will be a Red Cross blood drive at Tri-Town Regional Hospital, Sidney today. Donation time will be between 1:00 to 6:00 PM; appointment can be made at RedCrossBlood.org, or by calling 1-800-RedCross. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.
