Acco Brands of Sidney & Wal-Mart announced an agreement today in Sidney that Walmart will have a large assortment of Acco Brands products in their stores, following a 250 billion dollar Walmart corporate decision to commit to purchasing American Made Products. Testani said that the move already added 15 jobs in Sidney, & Acco has spent millions of dollars on new machinery & upgrades to maintain this partnership with Walmart for years to come.

The Sidney Main Street Revitalization Product is wrapping up on the first side of the street today, according to Sidney Mayor Andy Matviak:

Trees and the rain Gardens on the first side of Main street will be completed after the winter weather early next year, as the 2nd side of the street’s construction begins, that side is expected to be completed by June of next year.

Governor Cuomo today announced the availability of up to $3.5 million for research and development proposals to accelerate the use of electric vehicles, reduce the cost of installing and operating charging stations, and provide recommendations on how they can be used for grid resiliency. NYSERDA will administer the solicitation, proposals could focus on How to reduce the impact of charging vehicles on the grid; how vehicles can be integrated into buildings to provide backup power; or How to remotely manage electric vehicle charging at peak times. There are about 23,000 electric vehicles registered in New York currently.

New York State of Health announced that more than 45,800 new enrollees already have enrolled in coverage in the first four weeks of the current open enrollment for next year. Enrollment is outpacing last year by about 13% & more than 140,000 consumers have already renewed coverage or newly enrolled in health plan for 2018. New York’s uninsured rate is down to 4.7%.

Assemblyman Cliff Crouch reminded pistol permit holders that due to SAFE Act requirements, they must recertify all pistol permits 5 years after the date the license was issued. Last January, the State Police mailed approximately 350,000 letters statewide to remind pistol owners of the new recertification restrictions. As of right now, only about 175,000 people have responded. More information is available at troopers.ny.gov.

Governor Cuomo today announced New York has committed $2.6 million to build or improve 12 playgrounds at 10 State Parks across New York – as part of a goal to modernize 100 State Park playgrounds. Locally, Chenango Valley State Park will receive funds to construct a 3,500-square-foot splash pad as a part of the beach redevelopment.
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and Delaware County Corrections Officers arrested several people who were allegedly conspiring with inmates to smuggle contraband into the Correctional Facility during visitation periods. arrested were Maureen Storrs of Delhi, Mary Ellen Chukoloski of Binghamton & Britney Fraser of Davenport on a vareity of drug charges & conspiracy. All three were arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court and were remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $40,000.00 cash bail or $80,000.00 bond. Deputies arrested inmates George Robinson of Delhi, Edward Reed of Binghamton, Gregory Shamus of Delhi, on a variety of charges including promoting prison contraband & conspiracy, they were arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court on November 28, 2017 and returned to the Delaware County Correctional Facility without bail.
